RENT STABILIZATION & TENANT EVICTION PROTECTIONS WORKSHOPS
ATTENTION TENANTS AND LANDLORDS:
- As a reminder, the City of Bell Gardens has a Rent Stabilization Chapter as well as a Tenant Protections Chapter in its Municipal Code, which was approved in September of 2022 under Ordinance 925. The Ordinance has been effective since October 12, 2022, and is codified as Chapters 5.62 (“Rent Stabilization”) and Chapter 5.63 (“Tenant Eviction Protections”).
- Stay informed. This ordinance was created to ensure that both tenants and landlords understand their rights and treat each other fairly. Standing educational workshops are now scheduled twice a month. Starting Tuesday, June 20, 2023 (for landlords), and Wednesday, June 21, 2023, (for tenants), these workshops will answer any questions that you have about this ordinance and help you to understand your rights as a tenant and a landlord.
- Rent Stabilization and Tenant Eviction Protections
- Limits residential rent increases to no more than 4% per year, or 50% of Consumer Price Index (CPI), whichever is less.
- Mobile Home Parks and Spaces are included in the Ordinance and are not Exempt.
- Limits the allowed reasons for which a renter can be evicted.
Standing Ordinance Workshops: Held on the 3rd Tuesday and Wednesday of every Month from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Hosted via Zoom and in person:
