HOLIDAY TREE RECYCLING
Athens collects real holiday trees and/or foliage and composts them into a nutrient-rich soil amendment that can be used in agriculture, public parks, and landscaping. The collection is from December 26, 2023 through January 13, 2024.
The City of Bell Gardens will also provide two locations for drop-off services open Monday - Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.:
- Bell Gardens Veterans Park, 6662 Loveland Street
- Public Works Yard, 8327 Garfield Avenue
Here are some friendly reminders when it comes to recycling holiday trees:
- Remove all stands, lights, ornaments, tree skirts, and tinsel
- Cut your tree in half if it is more than six feet in length
- Place your tree curbside during the designated collection window
Artificial trees, flocked trees, and trees coated with fire retardant are NOT recyclable or compostable – they will be treated as trash. If the artificial tree is still usable, please consider donating it. Broken or no longer usable artificial trees should be disposed of as part of a bulky item pickup.
